Purpose-driven executives do not start with a slow march, they hit the ground flying. If you want to have a great productive year that is reflective of your values, aspirations, and long-term goals, here are four habit-forming strategies:
1. Manage your Energy.
The first responsibility of leaders is to be able to manage their energies before they can lead others. I am fully convinced that no amount of bouncing back is adequate if this habit principle is not integrated into living.
2. Attention is Gold. Focus on the central issues.
Our attention span has shrunk. We are bombarded with too much noise. Creating your own calm and focus is critical to living well these days. Be mindful of where your attention is focused on.
3. Define your Musts for the year and stick to them.
If you have one or two musts this year, pursue them like a lion that pursues its target prey. Be relentless and courageous to withstand predicted and unpredicted challenges to these musts.
4. Do your Best and enjoy your Life.
Do your best all the time and go home and enjoy your life. Turn off your computer, unplug your phones, and play more with your children. Create your down-time and spaces in-between loads of work. Share your time and thoughts with your loved ones and friends.
Now, go out there and make waves!
